Imam Khamenei: Who created ISIS? Was it anyone but U.S.?

Imam Khamenei: Who created ISIS? Was it anyone but U.S.?

Ayatollah Khamenei—the Leader of the Islamic Revolution—received the heads of the government branches, officials and a group of statesmen on Monday evening, June 12, 2017.

At this meeting His Eminence stressed that the arrogant powers adopt various methods to impose their desires on others, adding that: one of the methods is to fulfill the interests of the arrogant powers in the name of ‘international norms’ by accusing independent and anti-oppression nations of breaking the norms.

Ayatollah Khamenei held: Recently the American authorities have been referring-- in their speeches about Iran—to destabilization of the region under the pretext of international norms. They should be responded by: firstly what does this region have to do with you?! Secondly you and your agents are the source of destabilization in the region.

The Supreme Leader pointed to the role the United States has played in creating ISIS terrorist group, supplying it with military backing and stated, “That the U.S. claims they having established a coalition against ISIS is a lie; of course the U.S. is against an ‘unrestrained ISIS’, however, if anyone truly seeks to eradicate ISIS, they will have to fight against it."

Ayatollah Khamenei described the recent remarks made by the U.S. president accusing Iran of supporting terrorism as well as the United States’ human rights accusations against Iran as part of the ‘norms’ made up to fulfill the interest of the arrogant powers. His Eminence went on to say, “That the U.S. officials—alongside the chiefs of medieval and tribal Saudi regime, which has no traces of observing human rights —talk about human rights and accuse the Islamic Republic—which is a symbol of democracy—is truly ludicrous and it will remain as a historical mark of shame on their image.”

The Supreme Leader dubbed “distrusting the enemy” as a fundamental and serious experience that has to be strictly observed when running the country, adding: Our government could have distrusted the enemy but it acquiesced in some cases and for some reason—for instance to give the U.S. an excuse –however, no excuses were yielded and it was detrimental for us.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged the government officials to, “act vigilantly, meticulously and very cautiously wherever it is required to work with foreigners. Remarks should not be made in a way that implies trusting the enemy, as it will have a negative effect on both inside the nation as well as among the foreigners.”

The Leader of the Revolution referred to the JCPOA and added: We trusted and still trust the nuclear negotiating team because we consider them believers from among us, however, on the JCPOA we trusted the words of the other side, giving up on certain issues or not spending enough efforts on them, which consequently left room for the enemy to take advantage of.

Regarding foreign secretary Zarif's letter to european foreign policy makers, the leader of the revolution added: "The foreign secretary is obviously not against negotiating, but because he is a religious, conscientious and responsible person, he has explained in his letter different instances of breach of the Joint Plan of Action."

Inviting the supervisory committee of the Joint Plan of Action to perform their duties thoroughly and precisely, Ayatollah Khamenei added: "while accepting the Joint Plan of Action, we have made certain clear conditions in writing, that the supervisory committee must make sure are fulfilled."

He emphasized: The enemy, opposing you with insolence, understands any failure from your part as weakness and desperation and becomes more impudent. So you must be very careful.
Strengthening military and security powers was another issue that the leader of the revolution emphasized upon, illustrating the best practices in leading the country and managing opportunities and risks.

He added: "It is obvious that the United States hates the revolutionary guards and its Qods force, and tries to neutralize them. They make conditions for the revolutionary guards or the voluntary Basij force, call for them to step aside, or to approach regional issues in a certain way, and so on. But all our officials must do their best to reinforce these elements of strength and pride for Iran, i.e. the armed forces, the revolutionary guards, Basij force, and every other revolutionary, devout elements, despite the enemy."

The issue of the US was the last topic of the speech of the leader of the revolution: many issues are not resolvable with the US, because the US is troubled not because of the nuclear energy, human rights and the like, but because of the nature of the Islamic revolution.

Stating the main reason for the animosity of the United States with the Islamic Republic to be the formation of an islamic government in a strategic region, and a rich and resourceful country, with independant policies, Ayatollah Khamenei added: "they oppose the principle of independence for this country, and even if we were a nonreligious, and non-revolutionary, but independent state, there would be opposition and undermining."

Referring to many resources and facilities in Iran, the leader of the revolution held: those powers used to exploiting other countries' resources cannot forget about such good opportunity; but the Islamic Revolution will not let any exploitation happen.

Ayatollah Khamenei called issues such as “the human rights, terrorism, and the claim that Iran causes instability in the region” excuses by the US against the Islamic regime and reminded: the US is a terrorist itself, rears terrorists and supports a regime like the Zionist regime which is the core of terrorism and is created from the beginning by using terror and oppression. Thus, we can never get along with the US.

Regarding this issue he added: "positions, and declarations must be clear and without ambiguity, and ambiguous statements that may cause misunderstanding must be avoided."

The leader of the revolution reminded: "the US must know that the Islamic Republic would never back down from its positions on fighting with injustice, and defending Palestine, and would never stop its endeavour to obtain what belongs rightfully to this nation."

In conclusion, Ayatollah Khamenei called the Iranian nation a lively nation, and the Islamic Revolution young and progressive. He then added: these factors promise a good future for the people. Hopefully, the well-being of our people improves day after day and risks are diminished to the least.
