French Institute of Islamic Sciences to Reopen

According to nationspresse, the regional authorities had sealed the institute under the pretext of what they called " lacking transparency in its activities and not respecting security standards."

Closing of the Islamic institute resulted in student protests in front of the municipality building and governmental organizations of the city asking for reopening of the religious center. Some of the protests were suppressed by police forces and a number of Muslim students were arrested.

As the protests became severe, a committee was formed on June 10 at the municipality, investigating the case, which led to institute's reopening.

Currently serving over 300 Muslim students, the French Institute of Islamic Sciences (IFESI, Institut Français des Etudes et Sciences Islamiques) is an Islamic high school that admits both women and men.

The Institute was founded from the will of providing the French-speaking people, who want to learn Islam, its values, its history and its civilization and have an original and authentic vision of this religion, with the essential practical knowledge and the indispensable theoretical sciences as well as the means and methods to progress.
