“Then let man look at his food,” (“Falyanzorelensano ela taamehi”), Sura Abasa, Verse 24 of the Quran says.
Importance of paying attention to one’s food
Interestingly, “food” has been mentioned in 108 verses of the Holy Quran.
Today we are bombarded by a deluge of advertisements about myriads of types of food. Our minds can become distracted by the abundant colorful and tasty foods. However, wide-spectrum studies and research works have shown which foods are healthy and which are not.
Drinking alcohol endangers one’s mental and physical health
Drinking alcohol has been shown to be of some benefit but does much more harm. It has been proven that alcohol causes cirrhosis of the liver, hepatic carcinoma, fatty liver, brain damage, depression, and mood swings.
In addition, according to a survey published on the site “Two out of three young people believe that there is a strong link between drinking and having unprotected or unsafe sex.”
Over 1432 years ago, intoxicating alcohol was prohibited by the Quran. Even though this holy book is not a scientific text, it contains many scientific tips.
If people all over the world pay attention to what they drink and take care to drink healthy things, they will be less likely to become involved in unwanted and extramarital sex, which is the most important route for becoming infected by dangerous diseases like AIDS, gonorrhea, and syphilis.
Figs and olive are sworn to by God
“By the fig and the olive” (“Wattine wazzaytoon”), Sura 95 (Tin), Verse 1 says. Many different opinions have been expressed about this verse by commentators. However, according to the first mentioned above, it guides us to the fruits of the fig and the olive.
Today, it has proven that these two useful fruits provide many benefits for health. For example, olive oil has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect on the body. One tablespoonful of olive has nearly the same effect as one tablet of the analgesic diclofenac sodium, without its harmful side effects.
