Holy Month Of Ramadan

A country like India with so many religions and their followers, following their own customs and traditions. Among these regions exist Muslims, the followers of Islam. Ramadan is the holy month for Muslims, As the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said: It is Allah's Own month. Holy month of Ramadan is the month of fasting for Muslims and fasting is one of the pillars (duties) of Islam, which every Muslim should follow. During fasting Muslims deny from food, drink, smoking and sexual activities during the daytime, fasting from dawn to dusk. Muslims have their meals twice a day during the holy month Ramadan that is just before the sunrises called suhoor meal and after the sunsets called the Iftar meal.

Muslims believe that during Ramadan they must devote themselves to Allah by praying and visiting mosque. Ramadan is the month to read the entire holy book (Quran) by Muslims. It is also believed by Muslims that during Ramadan the gates of Heaven (jannah) are open and the gates of hell (Jahanam) are closed.

Lailatul Qadr also called as the night of power, is the most special night for all the Muslims who fast during the holy month of Ramadan. It is believed that Lailatul Qadr night falls during the last 10 days of Ramadan during the odd days like 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th. But many Muslims believe this night of power to be on 27th as it was originally on that day. Therefore so many believes are associated with Ramadan among the Muslims that makes Ramadan a holy month for them. Apart from the above, the importance of Ramadan lies in the fact, which all the Muslims believe that, it is believed to be the month during which The Holy Quran was revealed by god to prophet Muhammad.

Holy Month Ramadan: Prayers


The holy month of Ramadan when all the Muslims devote themselves praying to Allah by reciting Ramadan Dua’s. It is believed that fasting for the entire holy month is the only way to devote maximum time remembering Allah by reducing the daily works. Apart from the five daily prayers Muslims recite a special prayer during the holy month Ramadan called Taraweeh prayer (night prayer) given below:

Subhana dhil Mulki wal Malakuti, Subhana dhil izzati wal aDhmati wal haybati wal Qudrati, wal kibriyaa'i wal jabaroot Subhanal Malikil hayyil ladhi, la yunaamu wa la yamutu, Subbuhun, Quddusun, Rabbul malaa'ikati war-rooh La ilaha illal lahu, nustugfirullahi nas 'alukul jannati, wa na udhubika min an-naar


Glorified is the Owner of the Kingdom of the earth and the heavens; Glorified is the Possessor of Honour and Magnificence and Awe, and Power and Greatness and Omnipotence Glorified is the Sovereign, the Living, Who does neither sleep nor die O all Glorious, All Holy one, Our lord and the Lord of the Angels, And the soul. There is no God but You, Forgive us, Grant us Paradise, and save us from (hell) fire.
