It is narrated that at nights Imam Sajjad (AS) used to come out of his house with a big bag on his back containing smaller bags of money to carry to the doors of the houses of poor people, he used to knock the doors and whoever came out, he used to give to them. When Imam sajjad (AS) passed away, no help reached the needy and people found out that unknown person who helped them was in fact Imam Zainul Abideen (AS) [1]. In another narration, it is narrated that after Imam Sajjad (AS) passed away, people realized that without any one’s knowledge, Imam (AS) was responsible for expenditures of 400 families [2]. It is also narrated from Ismail Ibn Mansoor who said: When the holy body of Imam Sajjad (AS) was brought for ablution before burial, the observers noticed patches of hard skin on his back like those found on camel’s knees, and this was due to heavy loads he used to carry on his back to the houses of the poor and needy [3].
