The consequence of trusting God and seeking independence from others

The consequence of trusting God and seeking independence from others

It is narrated from the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) who said: Whoever wants to be the most independent of people, must trust more with whatever is with God than with people [1]. Imam Ali (AS) said: Be content (satisfied) with what you have been given so that the account of the Day of Judgment will become light and easy on you [2]. It is also narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) who said: A companion of the Prophet (PBUH) faced hardship in life and his wife told him: Go to the Prophet (PBUH) and ask him for something.

That man went to see the Prophet (PBUH). The Prophet (PBUH) told him: Whoever asks us for something we will give it to him/her and whoever seeks for independence from others, God will make that person independent of others. That man said to himself: The prophet (PBUH) cannot mean anyone except me, so he came back to his wife and informed her about what happened. His wife told him, the Prophet (PBUH) is also a human and does not know about your situation, tell him about your situation.

That man came to the Prophet (PBUH) for the second and third time and each time the prophet (PBUH) repeated what he said the first time. Then that man borrowed a pickaxe and went towards the mountains. He collected some woods and exchanged them for some flour and took it home. Tomorrow he collected more wood and he kept working hard and managed to save some money. Later on he bought his own pickaxe, two camels and his situation improved and he became independent of others [3].
