Obsessive people just waste their times, while one’s life has a huge value.
There have been people throughout the history who acted differently from others, although they looked like everyone else on the surface. Such people exist in every society and they could have any religion. They are stricter than they should be, they are pessimistic and cannot trust anyone; they hesitate in doing many things, such people are called “obsessive” people.
Obsessive People Are not Welcomed by all people
Obsessive people are not welcomed by others. Their family members do not welcome them and even they are not happy themselves.
Obsessive people waste water, waste their deeds, waste their lives, etc.
“But waste not by excess: for Allah loveth not the wasters.” (Al-An’am: 141)
Too Much Waste
An obsessive person is more than just a waster. Some people overuse the blessings of God; like people who eat too much, drink too much, or have lavish lifestyles. But obsessive people actually waste the blessings of God. It is like someone who pours away his food or tears apart his clothes. They are both prohibited. But to waste the bounties of God is even worse.
The Brothers of Satan
God says in the Qur’an, “…and the Transgressors will be Companions of the Fire!” (Qafir: 43)
And, “Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; and the Evil One is to his Lord (himself) ungrateful.” (Al-Isra’: 27)
The obsessive people too waste God’s blessings.
To Be Careful with How We Live
A person who spends half an hour just to take a shower, has actually wasted the time he could have spent for worshiping God. He is wasting the water too, which is prohibited. Moreover, he is wasting his life. Islam considers one’s life as a very valuable asset.
People who waste their lives and do not use it well, will be burnt in Hell. No one could help them out of the fire, and God considers them as ‘cruel people’.
To keep saying one’s prayers over and over and to be obsessed about the cleanness is actually wastage of one’s life. This is considered as a great sin.
The Four Things Asked on the Doomsday
People are asked some questions before final judgment on the Doomsday. If someone fails to answer them, he will be having a hard time.
They ask young people how they spent their youth which they could use to change the world. They ask older people what they did in the seventy years of their life they could use to gain such perfection that they could even meet the angels;
“In the case of those who say, "Our Lord is Allah, and, further, stand straight and steadfast, the angels descend on them (from time to time): "Fear ye not!" (they suggest), "Nor grieve! but receive the Glad Tidings of the Garden (of Bliss), the which ye were promised!” (Fussilat: 30)
A Muslim woman should gain such perfection that she could hear the prayers of plants and flowers and a Muslim man should gain a position that like Late Akhund Kashi the walls and trees say prayers along with him.
“We bestowed Grace Aforetime on David from ourselves: "O ye Mountains! Sing ye back the Praises of Allah with him! and ye birds (also)! And We made the iron soft for him.” (Saba’: 10)
To be Obsessive Is to Act Foolishly
Abdollah bin Sannan went to Imam Sadiq and discussed the case of an obsessive man with him.
“He is a wise man, though,” he said.
Imam Sadiq said, “How could he be wise if he follows the Satan?”
Abdollah asked Imam Sadiq why he said that, and Imam Sadiq replied, “Why do you think he is tempted? Even if you ask him, he will tell you that the Satan is tempting him.”
The things they do are not what the Qur’an has asked for:
“O Ye who believe! Put not yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger. but fear Allah. for Allah is He Who hears and knows all things.” (A-Hujurat: 1)
Not to Go Too Far
It is enough if Muslims just act based on the commands of God and Prophet Muhammad. They do not need to go any further than that. No one knows better than Prophet Muhammad. So why do some people act obsessively?
The Qur’an too maintains that one should only follow God and His Prophet and to refer to Imams for more commands. Anything further than that is just wrong.
Muslim scholars say, “if you have doubt about something three times, ignore your doubt the fourth time.” They also think that one should trust neither the doubt, nor the assurance of an obsessive person. They should act like other people, as what they do is stupid.
God says in Qur’an, “And who turns away from the religion of Abraham but such as debase their souls with folly? Him We chose and rendered pure in this world: And he will be in the Hereafter in the ranks of the Righteous. Behold! his Lord said to him: "Bow (thy will to Me):" He said: "I bow (my will) to the Lord and Cherisher of the Universe." (Al-Baqara: 130 and 131)
According to these verses we should just surrender to God, as we cannot get anywhere by fabricating religious rules.
Imam Sadiq told Abdollah bin Sannan: “You will soon have a problem (critical question) without a sign or an Imam to help you out of it. No one will be saved from that problem, but the one who recites the Prayer of the Sunken.
“How is that prayer?” asked Abdollah.
Imam Sadiq taught him the prayer and Abdollah repeated after him.
Getting into the Hell for Wrong Worship
According to the sayings of Imams, if something is untidy, it will become pure again if you pour water on it once. If someone does this several times and he still is not happy with it, such a person is deviating from the right path. One should not go too far in worship that he will be sent to Hell for it.
An Obsessive Person Cannot Enjoy Anything
People who go to Hell because they enjoyed unlawful worldly pleasures in this world, at least had fun in their lives. But an obsessive person finds joy neither in this world, nor in the world after. He creates problems for himself and for others in this world and he will be punished in the world after.
