From the perspective of the Holy Qur'an, one of those who has attained the rank of Imamate, is the hero of Tawhid (monotheism), the Prophet Ibrahim Khalilullah (friend of Allah)(AS). The Imamate of the Imam (AS) is superior to the Imamate of Abraham (AS) in terms of truth and reality. According to the Qur'an, one of his greatest demands is to be among the followers and Shiites of the Amir al-Mu'minān (AS), but in terms of time and history, Abraham (a) has been appointed to the position of Imamate many years before the event of Ghadir Kham.
This Divine position was the product of Abraham's victory in various experiments in different fields of his difficult life.
For example, being in the fire of Nimrudians, the separation from his family, the slaughter of Isma'il (as) are the examples of the divine tests which are mentioned in the Holy Qur'an.
After winning in different fields of Divine Tests, Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) managed to stand on the honorable platform of leadership and imamate. The Most High Allah says:
{ وَ إِذِ ابْتَلى إِبْراهيمَ رَبُّهُ بِكَلِماتٍ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ قالَ إِنِّي جاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِماما }
When his Lord tested Abraham's faith, (by His words) and he satisfied the test, He said, "I am appointing you as the leader of mankind
