The complaint of Imam Sadiq,s (as) student about poverty

The complaint of Imam Sadiq,s (as) student about poverty

The story a student who went to a scholar,s house, he was a very good and obedient student.

The student of our story was destitute and suffered from financial problems, he thought to himself. I need to go to a scholar and ask for help and guidance, he went to see Imam Sadiq peace be upon him who was a knowledgeable, insightful and wise scholar, he declared his problem to Imam Sadeiq (a.s). o son of the messenger of Allah, I am poverty stricken, my life is not good financially and I have a family but I have nothing, what should I do?

Imam didn’t say, go and I will pray for you, because praying is the key to any problem. But he said: is there any vacant store or shop in the Medina Market? The student said: perhaps o son of the messenger of Allah. Then Imam said: go and rent a store, there should be some kind people to let you rent their store, ask them you will pay them six month later so that you won,t pay them daily or monthly.
The student said: I have nothing to sell, Imam said: put a jar of water in the store and wait, finally some will come to quench his thirst and ask you to give him some water and in this way your business somehow starts.

The student humbly obeyed what imam ordered him because he was a student and Imam was his teacher and leader, he went and rented a store and put a jar in and sat there. Nobody came for a few days, but he didn’t give up and said I should be there because Imam ordered me so, there must be something I have to wait and see.
Once a great business convoy was coming from Egypt that had good materials, textiles, container, instruments and many luxurious things. They couldn’t put all these precious things beside the walls for sale, some of the businessmen had friends or stores in medina. So they went there. There was one businessman who came late and there was no empty shop for him, his friends told him that there is one vacant store somewhere in the market.

The businessman went to the student of Imam Sadiq,s (a.s) store. The student was honest, he was the one who learned life lessons from Imam Sadiq(a.s). he knew how to spend his life, the business man said: can I put my stuffs and goods in you store, the student said: yes, the business man said we will divide the profit the business in half, the student said whatever Allah wants,

The convoys stayed there for a month and sold their goods, the head of the convoy announced that it is time to go, the Egyptian business man who some of his goods were remained told to the owner of the shop who was that student: I have to get back with the convoy because I can’t go there alone. Do you agree if I let my goods be in your store? When you sell all of them take your share and send mine with a trustworthy person, the student agreed.

The goods were sold, he sent half the profit to the Egypt for the business man, after a while he went to Imam Sadiq (a.s) and said, Sir! what shall I do with the money? Our wealth has become so much. He asked for guidance from a scholar after he got rich and affluent. Good for them who are awakened. Those who have gone astray for sixty years and now they compensate all their past and choose the right path.
