According to Ahlul Bait News Agency - ABNA – religious minorities are one the main targets of ISIS. Among them the Iraqi Shia Turkmens have been attacked by ISIS more frequently because of their ethnicity and creed.
The city of Tal Afar and its countryside which hosts the biggest number of Iraqi Shia Turkmens have been attacked by ISIS many times after the Takfiri group seized the city of Mosul. Because the people in these areas were not armed ISIS could occupy the city and its suburbs easily and since then has committed heinous crimes against the Shia people of the area.
ISIS has captured many women in these areas and has taken them to Syria to sell as (sex) slaves in markets. Children too are destined to go to ISIS’s training camps. They train these children in order to use them in battlefields. Some of these children are trained to become suicide bombers carrying out attacks in Syria and Iraq.
Although the Turkish government has always declared himself a supporter of Iraqi Shia Turkmens, they have never taken any action against ISIS. This issue reinforces the idea of Turkey’s association with ISIS.
