Mourning Ceremonies Held in Najaf

--Some 2.5 million Muslims attended mourning ceremonies in Najaf, Iraq, on the anniversary of the demise of Islam’s Holy Prophet (PBUH) and martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hassan (AS).

According to Al-Furat TV, the ceremonies were held Saturday, February 13, concurrent with the 28th day of Safar on the lunar calendar.

Millions of Shia Muslims gathered at the holy mausoleum of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf on Saturday observing mourning rituals.

The ceremonies were held under tight security in the wake of recent terrorist attacks on Shia pilgrims.

Meanwhile, three bomb blasts targeting Shia pilgrims killed and injured at least 50 people in the city of Kufa.
