Ahlul Bayt News Agency - ABNA - The Mus’haf of Unity, a copy of the holy Quran inscribed by more than 400 Shia and Sunni scholars and students, was released yesterday in a ceremony at the Faculty of Islamic Denominations in Tehran.
It was attended by head of the Prayers Committee Hojat-ol-Islam Qara’ati, dean of the faculty Hojat-ol-Islam Biazar Shirazi, as well as Shia and Sunni students of the faculty.
Addressing the ceremony, Ali Mo’addeli manager of the Shamim Vahdat (scent of unity) plan said that the Mus’haf of Unity was inscribed by 475 Shia and Sunni scholars and students in one day during the holy month of Ramadan.
He said it was part of the Shamim Vahdat plan which also featured short-term Quranic and Islamic courses for students in 6 border provinces.
140 students attended the courses which were held for 20 days and instructed by students and professors of the Faculty of Islamic Denominations.
Also speaking at the event was Hojat-ol-Islam Qara’ati who referred to the desecration of the holy Quran in the US and condemned the vicious act.
He said the enemies of Islam always seek to foment discord between Shia and Sunni Muslims and hatch plots in line with this objective. “However, their act of defiling Muslims’ holy book actually foiled their plots because it strengthened Islamic unity.”
The Shamim Vahdat plan will conclude in a ceremony on Monday, September 20, where six of the participants will be awarded.
Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri Secretary General of the Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought is expected to officiate the ceremony.
