-- The Islamic republic of Iran’s military will hold 60 Quran recitation sessions across the country on the occasion of the Holy Defense Week, starting today, September 22.
This is according to Hojat-ol-Islam Vahedi, the military’s cultural deputy in a visit to the Iranian Quran News Agency.
“We held 6991 Quranic courses during the holy month of Ramadan and are currently holding Quran interpretation courses,” he said, stressing that these and other Quranic activities are aimed at promoting the Quranic culture in the military.
He said the military has held 28 editions of Quran competition and this year the 29th edition of the contest will be held, God-willing.
Winners of the contest will be sent to the Quran contest for militaries of the Islamic countries, he noted.
Hojat-ol-Islam Vahedi added that Iran will host a joint Quran competition for Iran and Oman military personnel come February.
