Sharjah Hosting Quran Memorization and Hadith Competition for Youth

The 23rd Quran Memorization and Hadith Competition for Arab Youth got underway yesterday, September 19, in the city of Sharjah, UAE, WAM reports.

120 young Quran and Hadith memorizers (aged 10 to 25) from member states of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain) are attending the competition.

Khalid Al-Aysh, a supervisor of the jury committee, at the opening ceremony said the fact that the 23rd edition of the contest is being held demonstrates the resolve of youth and sports ministers of the PGCC states to support the event.

Other members of the jury are Muhammad Sayf Az-Zar’uni from the United Arab Emirates, Yusuf Jafar Jinahi from Bahrain, Ibrahim bin Abdurrahman Al-Jarid from Saudi Arabia, Valid Muhamamd Al-Ali from Kuwait, and Abdullah bin Salim Al-Hanaee from Oman.

Winners will receive cash awards amounting to 180,000 UAE Dirhams, presented by As-Sura Charity Institute.
