(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The first Quran memorization contest for Yemeni military and security forces was launched yesterday, October 23, at Al-Salih mosque in the capital city of Sana.
The contest is now being held with the presence of 100 contenders. It has been organized by the Military and Al-Vahyeyn Quran Memorization Academy.
Ali H. Al-Shatir, who is in charge of the Spiritual Guidance office of Yemen’s armed forces, said, “The contest is aimed to function as an educational course in order to encourage military personnel to get involved in reading and memorizing the holy Quran.”
A number of Yemenis officials and Islamic figures among them Yemen’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Minister, Hamoud Al-Hatar, took part in the opening ceremony. The contest will be running for 15 days.
