Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Interior Minister Rehman Malik have shown satisfaction over the security arrangements taken by the law enforcement agencies during Muharram, particularly for Ashura processions.
They expressed this while chairing a meeting on law and order situation in the province at the Chief Minister House here on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by Inspector General of Police Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak and Capital City Police Officer Karachi Fayaz Laghari.
The meeting reviewed law and order situation in Sindh province, especially in Karachi. It also discussed a strategy for keeping vigilance on the suspects and dealing with the criminals.
Steps were also discussed for curbing the dacoits in the interior Sindh and ensure safety on the highways. It was directed that prompt action should be initiated against anti-social elements, looters and criminals.
Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has assured Pakistan Rangers Sindh of providing additional funds to enhance its capacity building for operational needs during Internal Security (IS) operation and duties.
Rehman Malik met the Director General Rangers, Sindh, Maj-Gen. Ejaz Choudhry at the National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC), Camp Office here on Tuesday.
The minister discussed the prevailing law and order situation in the province and took cognisance of the minor blast at Karachi University on Tuesday afternoon in which three students were injured.
He directed immediate action and arrest of culprits behind the incident.
