The Center for Quran Translation in the holy city of Qom has collected the translations of the holy Quran into 145 languages .
According to Hojjat-ol-Islam Mohammad Naqdi, head of the center, it was set up in 1994 by Ministry of Endowments and Charity Affairs in cooperation with Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
“During the 17 years of activity, the center has collected over 6000 copies of the Holy Quran in various languages to evaluate the quality of the translations,” he said.
“The center has also published six translations of the holy book and Tarjoman-e Vahy Magazine at an international level and succeeded to win the Book of the Year national and international awards.”
There is also a collection of more than 2000 articles by European scholars criticizing the translations of the Quran as well as about 2700 researches on Quranic sciences at the center.
It plans to set up an educational institute for those interested in translation of the Quran.
