The Speaker of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) Ammar al-Hakim paid tribute to the late Imam Khomeini founder of Islamic Republic of Iran.
Hakim, for his part, described the Islamic Republic as an important state in the Middle East as well as the world, stating that Iran is a key player in the establishment of regional security.
He noted that the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq will spare no effort to deepen and broaden cultural, economic and political relations between Iraq and Iran.
Iran and Iraq are trying to further develop ties following the fall of Iraq's executed dictator Saddam Hussein.
