Ramadan for children

The ninth month of Islamic calendar is Ramadan. It last for 29 to 30 days as Islamic calendars are based on moon and solar calendars on sun. Solar months have 30 to 31 days and lunar months have 29 to 30 days.

Children Participation In Ramadan
Ramadan, the month of fast for Muslims is carried by all the Muslims. Only senior citizens, pregnant women, nursing mothers, physically and mentally challenged and children below twelve years of age are exempted from fast. Muslim Children from the childhood itself are taught about their cultures and traditions to be followed. Children are encouraged to fast and follow the pillars of Islam. During Ramadan Muslims are suppose to have meals twice a day. One before the sunrise called suhoor and one after the sunsets called Iftar.During suhoor all the family members and children have their meals together and during Iftar meal again all the friends including near and dear ones gather to have food together. Having meals together help to built a strong bonding between the family members.

Ramadan Routine
During one month fasting of Ramadan all the family members including the children are advised to go to mosque to pray and devote their time to god. The children accompany their family members in all the activities during Ramadan and learn them to be followed in future. 

After Ramadan
After Ramadan comes the much Awaited Eid-Ul-Fitr, meaning breaking of the fast. Muslims visit mosque to pray and thank god for all that he has given to them. Children accompany their parents. It’s a leisure time for children as they get sweets, clothes and money in form of Eidi by their parents, relatives and all near and dear ones.



Children get new dresses stitched before hand and girls wear accessories, which include bangles, earings and much more to look gorgeous.apart from all this participation children love to have delicious food which is cooked on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr. 

Work done by Children On Ramadan
Children can utilize their idle time during the month of Ramadan by making handmade centerpieces or items to enhance the beauty of their house. They can also involve themselves to write poems and articles on Ramadan.
