Bahrain Al-Khalifa regime arrest 10 protesters

Saudi-backed regime forces in Bahrain have arrested at least 10 anti-government protesters in several cities across the US-sponsored Persian Gulf kingdom.

The clashes erupted Saturday as demonstrators took to the streets to renew demands for the ouster of the despotic Bahraini regime.

At least five of the protesters were arrested in the northwestern village of Bani Jamrah, where they had gathered outside the house of a detained opposition leader.

Bahrainis have been holding near daily anti-government rallies since mid-February, demanding an end of the US-backed Al Khalifa dynasty, which has ruled the country for over 40 years.

Currently, there are over 1,000 political prisoners in Bahraini prisons, awaiting trials in a military court, according to the Bahrain Center for Human Rights.

Hundreds of others have also been imprisoned, including doctors, nurses, lawyers and journalists that sympathized with the uprising in one way or another.

Families of those arrested during protest rallies have blamed Bahraini security authorities for brutally mistreating anti-government protesters, widely complaining that they have been subjected to physical and mental abuse.

In addition, both the United Nations Human Rights office as well as Amnesty International has criticized the Al Khalifa regime for its violations of international regulations by cracking down on and detaining protesters.
