The Azerbaijani Healthcare Ministry has published details of blood donations on the Day of Ashura on December 6, Trend reports.
The Healthcare Ministry and the Caucasus Muslim Administration organize blood donations on the tenth day of Muharram every year. 3409 people have donated blood. 2329 of them were locals from Baku and 1080 from other regions.
1363.6 liters of blood were collected. It will be used for people suffering from hemophilia and thalassanemia.
More people donated blood this year. 2210 people donated 884 liters of blood in 2010.
Blood was donated in 13 mosques of Azerbaijan: the Tezepir , Haji Soltanali, Bibi Heybat, mosque in Garachuhure, mosques Mirmovsum Agee, mosque in the Village of Keshlya of the Nizami District of Baku, Juma - in the Sabail District of Baku, Juma - in Sumgait, Imamzade - Ganja, Heydar - Mingachevir, Sheki mosque, the mosque of Boyuk Bazaar in Lankaran, Juma - in Barda.
