Shabestan news agency reported: Addressing poets from regional countries who participated in a congress of Islamic Awakening poetry in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei urged Muslim nations to overcome their differences and predicted that the Islamic Awakening movement would change the history of Muslim nations.
The Leader added that the "Arab Spring" is not a good name for this movement because the awakening stems from years of struggle and Arab nations' deep contemplation and understanding.
Ayatollah Khamenei also cautioned against the efforts to undermine the Islamic Awakening.
Poets from Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Lebanon, Sudan, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iran attended the International Congress on Islamic Awakening Literature, which was held in Tehran on February 5 and 6.
Since the start of 2011, the region has witnessed a growing wave of popular protests resulted from the people's growing awareness and vigilance.
Tunisia saw the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in a popular revolution in January 2011, which was soon followed by a revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in February 2011.
Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Libya have since been the scene of protests against their totalitarian rulers, who have resorted to brutal crackdown on demonstrations to silence their critics.
While Libya celebrated the victory of its revolution after the death of the country's dictator, Muammar Qaddafi, in October, uprisings continue in several other Muslim states.
