Shia Mosque demolished on PPP Minister’s orders in Ghotki

A Shia mosque and an Imam Bargah were reduced to the ground by the biased administration of Ghotki district of Sindh province on the orders of a biased provincial minister.

The orders to do so were issued by provincial minister Jam Saifullah Dharejo and his brother Jam Ikramullah Dharejo. Both now belong to the ruling Pakistan People’s Party.

The demolition has evoked stiff protest from the Shiites of the district and they have started pressing the administration to reconstruct the mosque and Imam Bargah otherwise protest would be expanded.

They have reminded President Asif Zardari and PPP’s leadership that Jam Brothers of Ghotki always remained political defectors throughout their political career and they had ditched the PPP in the past. They demanded of President Zardari to rein in his party’s biased minister.

It is not first case of anti-Shia policy of the PPP’s bigwigs. In recent past, provincial minister Mir Nadir Magsi has also issued anti-Shia directives to the administration of Qambar-Shahdadkot district.
