The event on Thursday night, February 14, also marked the closing of the first edition of Tasnim Quran competition.
Head of the Islamic Development Organization Hojat-ol-Islam Khamoushi, Majlis Member Laleh Eftekhari and head of the Dar-ol-Quran Organization Mehdi Qarashekhlu were present at the congress.
Qarasheikhlu in a speech said that three groups of Quranic figures are in the congress, those winning ranks in international Quran competitions, those who have first or second grade Quran memorization degrees and veteran Quran activists who have made endeavors in promotion of the Quran and teaching the Holy Book.
He said in the past 6 editions of the congress a total of 154 Quranic figures had been honored and that in the Thursday night event 6 reciters, 4 memorizers and 24 Quran veterans and masters would be honored.
Winners of the first edition of Tasnim Quran Competition were awarded further in the program.
First-title winners in the categories of Quran recitation, Tarteel and memorization of the entire Holy Quran were Habib Sedaqat from Tehran, Mohammad Dalali from Semnan and Peyman Ayazi respectively.
Elsewhere in the program, a message by Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi was read out in which he thanked the organizers of the event and urged everyone to hold fast to the teachings of the Holy Quran and adhere to unity in the face of the onslaughts of Islam’s enemies.
Nasrollah Fuladianpour, Ali Valizadeh, Safarali Rajabalizadeh, Mohammad Ali Dehdashti, Hadi Mohammadi Foruzan and Morteza Hamani were among the Quranic figures honored at the congress.
