-- Iranian Hajjes are due to attend a Quranic gathering tonight in memory of the late prominent muezzin Master Hossein Sobhdel.
Organized by Iran's Hajj Mission in the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia, the one-hour function will start at 9:30 pm local time at Qasr Al-Dakhil Hotel, with the top Quran reciter Seyyed Javad Hosseini, reciting verses of the Quran.
The event will be followed by some Quranic songs to be performed by Isfahan Tawashih (Quranic song) Group.
Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammadi Reyshahri, Leader's representative for Hajj affairs and Iran's Hajj Chief is expected to be in attendance at the spiritual and memorial ceremony.
Master Hossein Sobhdel, one of Iran's leading muezzins, who gained fame for his beautiful Adhan (call to prayer) performed and aired in the beginning of the 1979 Islamic Revolution died in his home in Tehran on Wednesday, November 4 of lung infections at the age of 78.
Many Iranian cultural and political dignitaries including former president Seyyed Mohammad Khatami expressed their condolences over the sad incident.
