In order to introduce Quranic teachings to English speakers around the world, Iran’s Cultural Center in Britain has published a new translation of the Holy Quran into English. Comparing with previous English translations of the Quran, the new book has some particular characteristics such as fluency which makes it be better comprehended by every one with various levels of educations. Mr. Gohari, the translator, who is an Iranian lecturer residing in Oxford, has tried to keep the original style of the Quran while doing his best to transfer the exact meanings of the verses. The use of modern English grammar as well as application of short phrases to define Arabic terms for which there is no equivalent in English terminology are other features of the work. In addition to a glossary, there are also footnotes wherever needed to provide readers with more information on Islamic concepts and some explanations on special Quranic terms or verses.
