-- A conference on proximity of Islamic schools of thought started from November 21 in the holy city of Mecca.
Organized by representative office of Iran's Supreme leader, the opening ceremony was attended by a large number of Shia and Sunni Muslim scholars.
Some verses of the Quran were recited by Hamid Shaker Nezhad, Iranian international Quran reciter at the event.
Speeches delivered by Molavi Ishagh Madani and Ayatollah Reyshahri following further Quran recitals were other parts of the program.
The opening ceremony also featured Fadak group from Mashhad who performed religious songs proceeded by lectures presented by some of the eminent figures from various schools of thought.
