Chinese Hajj Chief Lauds Iran for its Role in Bringing Islam to China

-- Chinese Hajj Chief Mustafa Yang Shi-Hu said that Iran's role to introduce Islam to China was so prominent that many Persian poems and expression are still found in their religious accounts.

He made the remark during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammadi-Reyshahri in the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The Chinese Hajj Chief briefed Ayatollah Reyshahri on measures taken by the Chinese government to prevent the outbreak of H1N1 virus among Chinese Hajj pilgrims, adding that 12,700 Muslims from China are performing the Hajj this year which shows, despite risks of swine flu infection, a growth of 700 in number versus last year.

Yang Shi-Hu emphasized the necessity of strengthening unity in the Muslim world and urged Muslims to enhance mutual cooperation.
