Ahlul Bayt News Agency - William Chiwaula, the competitor from Zimbabwe, called the International Quran competition a factor to improve unity among Muslims.
According to the news staff at the 32nd International Quran Contest, Chiwaula said the contestants have had the opportunity to take part at a high-level competition in Iran adding that the competitive environment can bring Muslims closer to each other.
The 36-year-old Zimbabwean who has attended the competition for the first time also expressed his satisfaction with the jury panel and their fair verdict.
Chiwaula continued to say that he was only 10 when he started to learn the Quran and under his father’s guidance and encouragement he was able to memorize the whole Book in three years.
Although Zimbabwe is a Sunni majority country, he added, where Sunnis and Shias live peacefully together.
Chiwaula added that unfortunately, Daesh or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) has been created to tarnish the image of Islam and the only way to prevent their penetration in the Islamic societies is by “disclosing their real intent”.
