On Monday, the terrorist group of ISIS executed a senior militant in the city of Mosul, northern Iraq, after accusing him of “planning coup against the Caliphate”.

Local sources in Mosul said that the group executed Abu Usman Hassan, an IS prominent leader and close friend to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the group’s alleged caliph, in the city of Mosul, following rifts between foreign and local IS militants.

The group sentenced Hassan to death on charges of plotting against “the Caliphate”.

A large number of Syrian and Arab fighters, who served under Hassan’s command, have been transferred to Raqqa, in an attempt by the terrorist group to separate Iraqi militants from foreigners in order to settle the disputes between the group’s members.

A resident from Mosul said that IS militants executed the senior leader in central Mosul, after sharp rifts between Hassan and other militants –who charged him of conspiracy against al-Baghdadi’s caliphate.

“Subsequent to the execution of the senior leader Abu Usman Hassan, the group sent nearly 250 fighters, mostly Syrians and from other Arab nationalities, to Raqqa –IS de facto capital in Syria,” the source added.

The extremist group has recently suffered mounting rifts among its militants, which led many to dissent and leave IS-held areas. In several cases, militants accused of planning military coup against the group have been executed in public.
