UNICEF praises Iranian leader's Fatwa in support of children's education

Representative of the United Nations children's fund, UNICEF, in Iran Ezio Gianni Murzi hailed the Islamic Republic's supportive role, specially Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei's religious decree, for the improvement of the educational conditions of refugee and immigrant children in Iran.

"A fatwa issued by Ayatollah Khamenei in this regard (educating children of the neighboring counties) is a very beautiful example of international solidarity," the UNICEF envoy said, addressing a ceremony on the occasion of a report on international educational assessment for everyone in 2015.

He reiterated that Iran has provided exemplary support for the children of the crisis-hit neighboring countries.

"Over 250,000 children from Afghanistan and Iraq are studying at the Iranian schools," he added.

Murzi said the UNICEF is very upbeat that Iran provides educational services for its neighboring countries and the country can play as a role model for the Middle East and Asia.

Ayatollah Khamenei in a recent fatwa has urged the country's education ministry and the concerned bodies to help the refugee and immigrant children in Iran to improve their educational level.
