An Egyptian imam in Delta city of Kafr Al Dawar has been fired following complaints that he tampered with the phrasing of the call to fajr prayer to reprimand Muslim Facebook browsers who does not perform prayers.
“He will be questioned and will receive a deterrent penalty if found guilty,” Mohammad Abdul Razeq, from the religious department of the Ministry of Waqfs (religious affairs), which is in charge of mosques in Egypt, told Al Masry Al Youm on Monday, August 31.
”He could be expelled from his job if the accusation against him is proven,” the official added.

Identified as Mahmoud Al Mughazi, the imam has allegedly altered the wording of the adhan by saying "praying is better than spending time on Facebook" instead of the traditional "praying is better than sleeping" call.
Worshippers at the Sayed Ghazi mosque have lodged complaints against him.
On a TV chat show on Sunday night, one of the worshippers came on air and accused Mr Moghazi of being a heretic. "Because of his inventiveness we have stopped praying at his mosque," the caller said.
The Adhan is the call to announce that it is time for a particular obligatory Salah (ritual prayer).
The Adhan is raised five times a day.
