The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has decided to use the Arabic term, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and rejected the Israeli term "Temple Mount".
The resolution, adopted by a vote of 33 in favor, six against, and 17 abstaining, calls the third holiest site in Islam only by its Arabic name, Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif.
Secretary-General of Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science Murad Alsudani said the Permanent Delegation of Palestine to UNESCO confirmed the issuance of the decision in favor of the Palestinian State, after it made considerable efforts to pass this resolution, in partnership with Jordan.
Alsudani added that if these decisions do not find space for implementation, they will remain a dead letter, especially that Israel is riding roughshod over all UN resolutions, and attempting to usurp the Holy City, its people and blessed Mosque.
He stressed on the need to force Israel to comply with all the UN decisions, and not to change the situation in the ground in Jerusalem and Palestine in general, especially that Israel seeks to judaize Jerusalem in an attempt to establish temporal and spatial division of the Holy City, using its different terrorist tools.
The secretary general called on all Arab and Islamic nations as well as the United Nations to work hard to compel Israel to implement all the UN resolutions.
