A Tanzanian female activist and former lawmaker underlined the role of Muslim mothers in teaching the Quran and raising a Quranic generation.
Speaking to the Global Association of Muslim Women, Shamim Khan said in teaching the Quran to children, it is important that Quran interpretation be read to children so that they learn the sublime teachings of the Holy Book as well as memorizing it.
She added that Muslim women can be very influential in the family’s progress by sticking to Islamic ethics.
Parents ought to observe the principles of Islamic ethics and make efforts to be good role models for their children, she added.
Elsewhere, Shamim Khan, who is a member of the executive committee of Tanzania’s Women Interfaith Network and a former member of parliament, warned against the threats posed to families by the social media and said parents should tell their children about the threats.
