The Mayor of Sinjar district said that only 4 Yazidi girls have been freed in Fallujah and the destiny of about 200 others who still remain in captivity inside the city is unclear.
Mahma Khalil, the Mayor of Sinjar, said that there is no update on the whereabouts of the Yazidi abductees detained in Fallujah.
"Nevertheless, we are making utmost efforts to locate those Yazidi girls" he said.
Khalil also said that the kidnapped Yazidi girls and women however can be found wherever the ISIS extremists are, particularly in Mosul and Raqqa, calling on the security forces to free the Yazidi abductees through special operations.
The Directorate of Yazidi Abductees Affairs in Dohuk province, which works to locate and free Yazidi captives, previously said that nearly 200 Yazidi girls, who were abducted by the IS militants during the Sinjar massacre, are now being held in Fallujah with an uncertain future.
The sole Kurdish Yazidi member of the Iraqi parliament, Vian Dakhil, revealed last month that two of the Yazidi captives were freed from IS in Fallujah, and she posted photographs showing the girls flying back to Erbil with her.
