Hero 'hugged Daesh suicide bomber' saving dozens of lives

Hero 'hugged Daesh suicide bomber' saving dozens of lives

Najih Shaker Al-Baldawi reportedly sacrificed himself to stop a Daesh terrorist from entering a shrine in Balad, Iraq, after spotted he was wearing a suicide belt.

He apparently hugged the jihadi fanatic as he approached the Sayyed Mohammad Shrine in a selfless bid to protect others.

The evil terrorist then detonated his belt, killing them both in the deadly blast.

Had it not been for Najih's heroics, the death toll could have rose "exponentially".

The bomber was one of several suicide bombers and gunmen who attacked the shrine 45 miles north of Baghdad.

At least 40 people died and more than 74 were wounded in the latest harrowing example of sectarian violence in the war-torn country.

Suicide bombers, some wearing security force uniforms, seized the shrine through a nearby marketplace, before blowing themselves up near the main gates.

The shrine was not damaged, but the resulting inferno scorched the gates and tore apart the marketplace.
