The consequences of sin in the Quran and sayings of the Ahlul-Bayt (AS)
The obedience and servitude of Allah Almighty brings about the abundance of blessings as well as downpour of blessings as Allah Almighty has said in AL-ARAF:
“Had the people of the towns believed (in Our revelations) and maintained piety, We would have certainly showered on them Our blessings from the sky and the earth. But they called Our revelations lies, thus Our torment struck them for their evil deeds.” (Alaraf, 96)
Faith and piety of servants will cause downpour of blessings and Sin and disobedience bring about punishment and deprivation of blessings.
“Whatever hardship befalls you is the result of your own deeds. God pardons many of your sins.” ( ASH-SHURA (COUNCIL), 30)
And in the verse 6 of Sura Anam perishing is introduced as the result of sin:
“And so we destroyed them for their sins” (Alanam, 6)
Imam Sadiq (AS) said: it is Allah’s certain and inviolable verdict not to take a blessing that he has granted his servant unless the servant has committed a sin.
Imam Baqir (AS) said: no servant will suffer a plight unless due to the sins he has committed.
Imam Baqir (AS) says about the interruption of rain: it rains the same every year but Allah sends the rain where ever he wishes and he deprives the rain from those who have committed sins and sends the same rain somewhere else.
Imam Sadiq (AS) says:
Adultery is among the sins which prevents sustenance of the people.
Undoubtedly one of the areas of illicit relations is promiscuity and immodesty which bring about licentious looks and sensual excitement and they lead to multitudinous sins.
By considering the Quranic verses and traditions it is concluded that rain interruption, Destruction of homes, Unprecedented disasters, betrayal of secrets, disgrace, brevity of life, Earthquake, General poverty, Grief, illness, Allah’s wrath and curse are all the consequences of sins.
