Annual Arbaeen Procession 2015 Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh (U.P), India  3/December/2015

The Arbaeen (40th Day) of Imam Hussain(a.s) and the Martyrs of Karbala was marked by mourning processions here in the Aligarh Muslim University at Aligarh. The university campus echoed with the chants of Labbaik ya Hussain (We are at your service O Hussain) as the mourners paid tribute to the martyrs of Karbala. A large number of students both male and female participated in a very well organised procession in which the messages of Karbala were propagated with the help of placards and banners. A variety of messages were propagated in a very attractive manner with the students carrying placards having photos and quotes about Imam Hussain (a.s) of the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Rabindranth Tagore and others. “I learnt from Imam Husain(a.s) how to achieve victory while being oppressed” was the quote of Mahatma Gandhi on one Placard. The students were also carrying the photos and quotes of the leaders of Islamic Ummah Ayatullah Khomeini, Ayatullah Sistani and Ayatullah Khamenai. There were also messages condemning oppression and terrorism of all kind all over the globe.

A volunteer of the program said, “We have come out here with these messages to make the people know the correct teachings of Islam. It is mentioned in the Quran that if a person kills a human being then it is as if he has killed the whole humanity and if a person saves the life of one human being then it is as if he has saved the whole humanity. It is very sad to see some corrupt tyrants defaming the religion of peace by using its name in doing crimes against humanity”.
The girls present in the procession propagated the Islamic concept of Hijab by telling the world that it is a pious concept which protects women and it is their own choice to practice it and is in no way oppression. A girl in the procession quoted, “ everyone has a right to wear what they like and Hijab is my way of dressing up and I really love it and feel proud and honoured to practice it”.

The students were also holding banners on which some of the Islamic Rules were written which were as follows:-

1. Always speak the truth and support the truth by your actions, words and thoughts.
2. Never hurt any living being by your actions, words and thoughts.
3. Always acquire your wealth through legal means.
4. Stay away from haraam and illegal acts.
5. Mutual respect for all cultures, communities and religions.
