If a person does not accept the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) as the seal of the prophets, is he/she an apostate? The Grand Ayatollah Shahroodi’s answers

The Grand Ayatollah Shahroodi answered questions about not accepting that the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) is the seal of the prophets.

Question: 1) What are the bases of the religion of Islam? 2) If a person accepts the bases of the religion of Islam but does not accept that the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) is the seal of the prophets, is he/she an apostate? 3) Is it a condition of being a Muslim to accept that the Prophet (PBUH) is the seal of the prophets or is it enough to accept the bases of Islam (such as unity of God, resurrection, prophethood)?

The Grand Ayatollah Shahroodi: 1) To bear witness to unity of God, and the prophethood of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), and believe in resurrection. 2) Considering that it is essential part of the religion to accept the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) is the seal of the prophets, therefore denying it means denying the prophethood, and it causes disbelieve. 3) It has been answered (as above).
