The system of universe and creation is in a way that every good and bad deed has its effect both in this world and hereafter. One of the deeds that its worldly and hereafter is significant and great is prayer. The worldly effect of prayer requires a little more explanation that I will elaborate on that in the coming sessions, but effect of prayer in the hereafter is like this: I have committed a sin which, according the Holy Quran, is fire on the day of resurrection. In fact, all sins are fire and it is explicitly mentioned in the Holy Quran in the Sūrat an-Nisā, The one who usurps the ill-gotten properties, he is in fact eating fire, but because he is in this world, he neither sees the fire in the fireplace nor the fire which is in the clothes he has bought by the ill-gotten money, nor he sees the fire in the land he has bought by the ill-gotten money, but on the day of resurrection which the truths about the sins are revealed, that ill-gotten morsel he has eaten in the world will come out of his stomach like a fire, and that ill-gotten clothes will appear like a scorching metal clothes in the hell. These are the words of Allah Almighty in the holy Quran.
We have probably committed many sins in the past which those sins will appear like a fire on the day of resurrection which nothing can extinguish them but those things that Allah has put extinguishing fire in their nature. There is a narration which is so great and promising for us. Allah has an angel whose duty is to inform people at the time saying prayers to get up and be ready to extinguish the fires you were the reason for. What can we put out the this fire with? The answer is prayer. Prayer is so powerful that can put out the hellfire which we have made it for ourselves. As a matter of fact, the power of saying prayers can extinguish the hellfire. This is the hereafter result and effect of worshiping and saying prayers.
