Bahraini detainee denied communication with outside world for over a week

Bahraini detainee Ahmed Mirza has been denied communication with the outside world for over a week. Rights campaigners are reporting that the reasons for the measures remain unknown.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Bahraini detainee Ahmed Mirza has been denied communication with the outside world for over a week. Rights campaigners are reporting that the reasons for the measures remain unknown.

33-year old Mirza, who is detained in Bahrain’s Jaw Prison, is a sickle cell patient and requires a surgical procedure for the removal of his gallbladder.

However, numerous reports by Bahraini activists allege that the authorities at Jaw have repeatedly denied him access to proper health care.

Mirza, a biology teacher, was sentenced to ten years in prison after being found guilty of involvement in a bombing that occurred while he was out of the country.

Manama’s critics assert that his real crime is being the half-brother of Bahrain’s jailed opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman.
