After theology (knowing God), no knowledge and science is more precious and noble than self-knowledge (knowing oneself). The one who knows himself as much as necessary and understands what position he has in this universe, even if he is exposed to be killed, he would certainly not exchange his life with his internal enemy or the carnal desires and the external enemy so as to save himself. The carnal desires are translated as a set of illegitimate desires, and the external enemy is everything opposing the truth and the divine values.
