-- On the advent of the month of Muharram, over 1500 groups have been organized to hold mourning processions in the holy city of Karbala.
According to Aba news agency, Riyadh Ne'mah Al-Salman, in charge of the Office to Commemorate Imam Hussein's (AS) Virtues in Iraq and the World of Islam said, "Various religious groups and public service institutions have been set up to hold processions marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala."
"Necessary measures have been taken in cooperation with the city’s police as well as other related institutions to provide security of the pilgrims and those who participate at the mourning ceremonies near the holy Shrine of the Imam (AS)," he added.
"Among the mourning groups, 'Al-Zanjil' and 'Al-Latm' are the most important ones in Karbala. They perform their programs from the beginning of Muharram for ten days."
