-- Careful investigation of Imam Hussein’s (AS) uprising would help to shed light on some of its aspects which have so far been overlooked, Iran cultural attaché in Tunisia told IQNA.
Sayyed Hassan Esmati said that the event of Ashura was one which would never be uninteresting “provided that we take a more profound look at this event and present its teachings to the new generations with a language appealing to them.”
He also stressed the important role that the clergy, the media and scholars and writers play in promoting the messages of Ashura and Imam Hussein’s (AS) uprising against the oppressive rule of Yazid.
Elaborating on the reasons why the event of Ashura came to pass, Mr. Esmati said, “The main reason why Imam Hussein (AS) rose up was because the Islamic society had moved away from its values and its origins, namely the teachings of the holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
“The aim of Imam Hussein’s (AS) uprising was therefore to revive pure Islamic and Quranic values in the Islamic society,” he underlined.
He said that seeking martyrdom was the pinnacle of the beauties of Ashura.
Mr. Esmati also referred to the role of women, especially Hazrat Zaynab (SA), in the event of Ashura and said that it was Hazrat Zaynab (SA) who shouldered the responsibility of spreading the message of Ashura.
