Mourning ceremonies for the chief of martyrs, Hazrat Hossein Ebn-e-Ali (Peace be upon him) and the martyrs of Karbala have been held tonight (Saturday night ), the night of Ashura, in the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and people from all walks of life.

The Ashura mourning ceremonies were held on Saturday in the Hosseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini (May his soul rest in peace), in Tehran. A number of senior government officials also attended these mourning ceremonies, and special prayers and chants of mourning and lamentation, for the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet's grandson , Imam Hussein (Peace be upon him) were performed by the crowd, clad in black.
The Ashura mourning ceremonies started on Thursday 7th Muharram, and will continue till Monday 11th of Muharram.
