Permission Needed for Publishing Quran Online

--Turkey’s Ministry of Religious Affairs has issued a decree making it necessary to have permit for publishing digital or paper copies of the holy Quran.

According to veteknoloji, the decision has been made in order for preventing publication of distorted versions of the holy Quran and safeguarding the rights of publishers.

In order to publish the Quran online, Turkish websites need to get permission from the Ministry of Communications. As for the print version, publishers must have permission from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Currently, there is a supervisory body at Turkey’s religious affairs ministry made up of 8 scholars who oversee the publication of the holy Quran.
