A ceremony was held yesterday, January 31, in Somalia’s northern city of Hargeisa to honor winners of the Quran memorization competition, according to the website of the World Quran Memorization Association (WQMA).

The ceremony was attended by Somalia’s grand Mufti Muhammad Umar Durrar, Quranic and Islamic figures and representative of the WQMA Khizr Muhammad Hussein Addam.
The competition head been organized by the association with the aim of promoting Quran memorization in the region. 30 memorizers of the Quran took part in the competition.
Somalia is a predominantly Muslim country located in the Horn of Africa.
