Arab museum holding community Ramadan dinner

Ahlul Bayt News Agency, DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - The Arab American National Museum is holding a community dinner to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

The Iftar, which breaks the holiday's sunrise-to-sunset fast, will be held Sept. 2 at the museum in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a screening of the 2008 film "Lemon Tree," about a Palestinian widow who tries to keep her family's lemon grove.

After sunset, dinner will be served with a menu that includes hummus, fattoush, stuffed lamb with rice and nuts and a Ramadan dessert known as rose cheeks.

Tickets are $25 for museum members and $30 for others and available online or at the door.

The month of fasting and praying began last week.

Dearborn is the center of southeastern Michigan's large Arab community.
