Dubai Islamic and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) on Tuesday launched the Global Islamic Culture Project under the Slogan “My Religion is My Identity”.
Assistant Director of IACAD, Dr Omar Mohammed Al Khateeb, said: “The project aims at the dissemination of the Islamic culture among all segments of the society regardless of their customs, traditions and languages locally and globally.”
“The two year-long project aims at enforcing and respecting the cultural values of Islam in all its fields and knowledge,” said the head of the project, Iman Ismael Abdallah.
The campaign has been tailored to tackle aspects that make one’s life “lived Islamically and in consonance with worldly environment.”
Iman Abdallah said that “people especially the youth need to know a lot about their religion, health, environment, society and how to live in a multicultural environment, general knowledge and the economic aspect of life.
“The more a person understands the cultural values of Islam, it is easier for him or her to respect other cultures and live with them easily without compromising the core values of Islam,” she added.
The principal of Modern Skills School, Jessica Griffin, said: “One of the ways of achieving the religious identity is to “encourage the children to know Arabic, the language of the Quran and Islamic traditions and understand the Quran at an early stage of their life because this book is the prime importance of every Muslim.”
