Society Problems not from Islam

The International Scientific workshop on chastity and morality with the aim of retrieving and refreshing the Hijab, spirituality, ethics and moral education of people with the presence of educated women of various countries was held in the capital of Athens.

At the beginning of this conference Mr. Honardoost, Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ambassador in Athens pointed at today’s social transgression despite all the materialistic progress of human societies and said: “the main cause of all these conflicts and transgressions is the lack of morality among human societies”.

He expressed hope that this conference provides solutions to solve the problem of ethics in today's ride.

After the opening speech, the board of administrators of the workshop consisting of “Hojjat ol Islam Akhtari”, “Ms. Doctor Eftekhary”, “Ms. Doctor Rahbar”, “Ms. Smato” from Greece, “Dr. Yashar Shariff” Sunni Mufti from Turkey, “Ms. Nazy Karim” from Bahrain and “Ms. Patrisia Zahra” from Italy were deployed in place.

Afterwards Mr. Akhtari reviewed the subject of perspective of the Hijab and Chastity in views of the holy Quran. He considered chastity and morality as the two fundamental issues of human being and human societies and said: “Hijab exists in all religions and is considered as their rules and rituals. Islam and Quran also offer this concept as a principle of religious and ethical approach”.

Secretary General of the Ahlul Bayt (A.S) World Assembly added: “but in the meantime, those who don’t have enough understanding of religion and society assume that Hijab is a kind of limitation in life. They criticize Hijab because they have not understood the philosophy of Hijab”.

Akhtari Pointed at the Quranic verses on Hijab and emphasized: “God created man, and loves his creature and is interested in the prosperity of human being. Therefore, in this holy book he has revealed many verses about Hijab and has determined Shari'a commands for building a moral community”.

He also stated the fact of spiritual growth of women in Islam and said: “in Islam unlike some other school of thoughts, in prayer and perfection a woman is exactly similar to a man. Women in Islam are economically as well recognized independent people and no one has the right to interfere in their personal property”.

This member of the Supreme Council of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization elsewhere in his remarks he emphasized the efforts done by women wearing Hijab in community activities and said: “despite the existence of Hijab order in Islam, there is no limitation for women entering the field of social activities such as science and politics. At the early years of rising Islam, great and exemplar women such as Hazrat Zahra and Hazrat Zeinab Salam o Allah Alayhema did the greatest service to Islam by observing chastity. Also after these honorable prominent figures, in Islamic societies as well as the Islamic Republic of Iran, Muslim women alongside men are involved in society and politics. So, the conflicts that women face in some religious backward countries derive from their society problems not from Islam”.

Akhtari looked at the rights of Muslim women and said: “our women did not choose Hijab on persuasion but they chose this kind of covering as their social culture. Therefore western countries must respect this belief of more than one billion three hundred Muslims.”

He added: “but while the followers of other religions live freely in Islamic countries and feel no restrictions on practicing their religious rites, Muslim women in some western countries are not allowed to wear Hijab. Hijab and morality are common factors in all religions and we should reach agreements in relations with them. ”

Hojjat ol Islam Akhtari at the end thanked the organizers of the workshop and expressed hope that thinkers and philosophers present at the conference will take a big step forward in reaching the agreements.

The scientific workshop on chastity and morality with the cooperation of Iranian Cultural Consultations in Greece, Ahlul Bayt (A.S) World Assembly and Taghrib World Assembly was held in the President Hotel of Athens.
